Mental Health Awareness Week (11 to 17 May 2026) is back and if you run a business, this one’s for you.
As a business owner, it’s easy to get swept up in targets, cash flow and keeping everything moving. But this week is your chance to pause and ask: How are my team and I really doing?
This week is about reminding ourselves that mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health and that looking after our minds isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.
We All Carry Something
Everyone you meet is carrying something you can’t see, including your team. Pressure, stress, burnout, worry – they don’t show up like a broken leg, but they can knock you sideways all the same. At GreenStones, we promote the importance of mental health and have spoken to lots of business owners and team members who feel stretched thin trying to be everything to everyone. You’re not alone.
This week, we’re encouraging everyone to be a little more open, a little more kind and a little more aware. You never know what someone else might be battling behind the scenes.
Small Habits, Big Impact
Improving mental health doesn’t always mean huge lifestyle changes. Here are a few small habits that can make a big difference – especially if you’re running a business or working in a fast-paced environment:
- Talk more – A quick chat with someone who “gets it” can lift a weight off your shoulders.
- Move your body – A brisk 10-minute walk can clear your head.
- Take a proper break – Not a quick scroll through your phone. Step away, breathe and reset.
- Check in with your team or colleagues – A simple “how are you doing really?” can open a door.
- Celebrate small wins – Got through a tricky task? Tick. That counts.
How Our Team’s Implementing Changes
At GreenStones, this isn’t just something we talk about for one week of the year. Julie Tuttlebee will be attending a two-day Mental Health Awareness training course during this period, so we can better support both our team and the businesses we work with.
We’ll be sharing a follow-up blog after the course with some of the key takeaways and practical tips she’s learnt, so you can start applying them in your own business too.
It’s Okay to Ask for Help
Let’s drop the idea that asking for help is a weakness. It’s brave. Whether that’s chatting to a mate, booking a session with a therapist or simply saying “I’m not okay today” – you’re taking a step forward. And that’s what counts.
At GreenStones, we believe mental health isn’t something you “deal with” behind the scenes. It’s something we all live with. That’s why we’re big fans of talking, checking in and keeping things real, both with our team and with the businesses we support.
This Week, Be That Bit Kinder
To others. To yourself. If someone’s a bit quiet, check in. If you’re feeling a bit off, say something. This week might just be the reminder someone needs to take their first step toward getting help. Let’s make space for these conversations.
